My good friend, Patrice Nagent has poured his life into church planting and evangelism. He serves with C2C Collective in Quebec. He has experienced something of a personal renaissance in sharing the love of Jesus. He has experienced fresh gospel opportunities and new fruitfulness in evangelism. He puts this down to prayer.
Patrice prayed a three-fold prayer:
1. “Lord, give me opportunities to share your gospel”
2. “Help me to recognise and be attentive to those opportunities”
3. “Help me to be bold enough to talk and not be intimidated when these opportunities come my way”
“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.” (Colossians 4:2-4)
Paul, the great missionary veteran exhorted the church at Colossae to a life characterized by gratitude, spiritual attentiveness and prayer. He also made a very specific prayer request: that the LORD would orchestrate opportunities for the proclamation of the good news of Jesus.
Roy Crowne used to say prayer ( P.R.A.Y.E.R.) is please remember your end result. In other words we must pray with a definite focus and specificity. Why not ask the LORD for clear opportunities to share the gospel this week? Ask the LORD of the harvest for divine appointments where you can show and share the love of Jesus?
Can I get an “Amen”?
